This project is the product of research that developed from my family research. Three generations of my ancestors lived in Scarbrough community (site of Y12) and several are buried in New Hope Cemetery. As I discovered more about my family I learned of 900 others that were removed by US government during WW II.
The secret project resulted in the development of enriched atomic fuel for the bomb that ended the War in1945. In the removal beginning 1942 the US Army Corps of Engineers took 5600 photos of homes and farms soon demolished. I found these images in National Archives in Georgia. After seeing them I felt they needed to be more accessible to the public. With the help of many friends and many hours of work they were published on CD by PGHS. Select images of each home are available. Find your family name, Section and Number to order.

Here you can find and acquire pictures of your family home place if they lived in the Oak Ridge area.
